Louis T. Roumaya


DAVENPORT — Services for Louis T. Roumaya, 44, of Davenport, will be 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, Davenport. Burial will be in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Va. Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport, with a prayer service at 7 p.m. Louis died Sunday, June 21, 1998, at Genesis Medical Center-East Campus, Davenport, after suffering apparent heart failure.

Louis Thaddeus Roumaya was born Sept. 2, 1953, in San Antonio, to Louis Elias and Patricia (Walsh) Roumaya. He married Barbara A. Sobel, on May 17, 1987, in Philadelphia.

Louis was a 1975 graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy, Annapolis, Md. He had a 22-year career in the Navy, retiring in 1996 as Submarine Commander, Second Fleet, at Norfolk, Va. He received many decorations and citations, including the National Defense Medal with Bronze Star.

For the past two years, he was employed by Commonwealth Edison. He was the senior reactor operator at the Quad-Cities Nuclear Generating Station, Cordova, Ill.

He was a member of the church and had been an avid train collector and model railroader. The time he cherished the most was the time he spent with his two sons.

Memorials may be made to a memorial fund established for his children.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara; sons, Matthew and Zachary, both at home; his mother, Patricia Roumaya, Boerne, Texas; a sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Roy Baring, Elmendorf, Texas; a brother, Zayad Roumaya, Dallas; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Louis E. Roumaya, in 1989. May he rest in peace
