Kenneth William Geiger Jr.
1955 – 2010
Graveside services will be held for Kenneth will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 22, at Roseburg National Cemetery, 1770 Harvard Blvd. in Roseburg.
Kenn joined the U.S. Navy right out of high school. He was a patriot and proud to serve his country. He served on board submarines as part of the navigation unit as an instructor. He served on the USS Flying Fish, USS New York City, USS Jacksonville and USS Gernard, earning the rank of chief petty officer. Citations and medals he earned include: National Defense Service Medal, Navy Expeditionary Medal and Meritorious Multiple Good Conduct Awards. He was honorably discharges in 1988. He then worked for the Oregon Lottery as a trainer for retailers and technicians.
Kenn’s broad spectrum of interests included a love of music and square dancing. He was a member of the American Relay League, earning his advanced radio license. He was a member and part of the American and Worldwide MENSA ORG. His education included a degree in Network Technology.
Kenn is survived by life partner, Janet Geiger; son, Matt Geiger; mother, Ina Christensen of Salem; stepfather, Matt Christensen of Coos Bay; sister, Karen Cornelius; brother, George Geiger of Springfield; stepsister, Lisa Christensen of Eugene; numerous nieces and nephews, and aunts and uncles.
He was preceded in death by father, Kenneth William Geiger Sr.
