Monroe Citty, MO Passed away on 4/1/2019 Served on: CGN-25, SSN-653, SSN-673 Cold war submarine veteran, Lawrence (Larry) Lee Schuermann 73 of Monroe City, Missouri passed away Monday, April 01,2019 at the Monroe City Manor, Monroe City, Missouri after he lost his battle with cancer. Lawrence Lee Schuermann was born September 22, 1945 at St. Luke's Hospital St Louis Mo. to the proud parents of Lee Charles and Elizabeth Claire Klementis Schuermann. He is survived by several cousin's scattered across the country and his friend/family in Monroe City . After Larry's graduation from High School in 1963 He attended the University of Missouri. He delayed his education to join the U.S. Navy where is served his country for over 11 years. During his time in the Navy he attended nuclear power school, become a chief Petty officer, served on the USS Bainbridge and nuclear submarines . He then went back to the University of Missouri and graduated in 1977 with a BS in mechanical engineer . Larry's career was spent working at Nuclear Power plants and gas turbine power plants. Most of this time was spent in Texas, New York and Louisiana, but Missouri was always home . Larry loved the outdoors, especially hunting. Wether he was goose hunting in Mo and TX, elk hunting in CO , or deer hunting at the Buck and Gobbler Inn Bethel MO . Spending time with his family and friends brought him much happiness . He requested that we honor him with a friendly drink of crown royal. Larry was always ready for a home cooked meal and would request a cherry pie, brownies and ice cream ! He loved spoiling his 2 dogs, Trump and Sierra and showing off latest toys, either his corvette, boat or 4 wheeler. He was one of a kind and will be missed by his family and friends . He was a life time member of Ducks Unlimited and White Tails .
